Pre-race routine:

crappy nights sleep, woke with beginnings of a cold. Yucky way to start the day out. Ate a leisurely b-fast of oatmeal and cran juice (tried and true race day meal) with sunday paper. Met up with my track club bud, bob, and headed out for the 35 min trip to New Bedford.
Event warmup:

Thats just it, pre-event warm up. A bit chilly temp wise plus 20 mph plus wind. Ducked in the car until minutes before race time.

Comments:

Began the run with my buds, bob and Paul, however they seemed to fall into a groove faster than mine so wished them well and watched them take off into the crowd. I was able to keep up a constant and comfortable pace despite feeling a little off from a being sick.
My overall goal of the day was to finish under 2 hrs. At each mile split the pace was right at the mark.
Bob ended up finishing in 1:48. I passed Paul at mile 11, he finished in 2:04 ish.
What would you do differently?:

Right on for my race goal. Would have liked to have felt 'lighter' and able to keep up with faster pace.
Post race
Warm down:

Hopped in the truck before the post race chill hit and headed home. Would have liked to stay and enjoy the post race chow. New Bedford puts on a tasty seafood chowder and fresh fish sandwiches. YUM!! Needed to head out to a Boy Scout Eagle court for one of my scout boys.

Event comments:

Safe race, challenging course, lots of water stations, great traffic control, nice scenery.

Course: Course is a good race course. Lots of challenges and scenery. Start out in the middle of the city, one long hill around mile 3-4, flat section for about 6 miles on the outskirts of the city, tough and cold wind along a shore section with pretty harbor views, through the city hurricane dikes, and then back into the city section with one last strong hill at mile 12.
