Good job for your first marathon. It's always hard to choose the best foods to eat prior to a longer race. I really is a hit or miss kind of thing. Just recently I found that 3 granola bars work the best for me. I haven't gotten sick and they kept me going the whole time. So good luck finding what works for you but you'll know it when you find it.

Hope you do more, you'll probably enjoy it more as you get more under your belt.

Congratulations on your first half! I really enjoy the Columbus half; it's a great half-mary, with lots of support.

Yeah, it's a real gamble to figure out what your stomach will take on race day. I've trial-and-errored my way to figuring out that I have to eat as little as possible before any race; one cup of coffee and something (half bagel OR a small bowl of cereal) is about all I can take. Really, half cup of coffee and a half of a whole wheat bagel is my best bet, then sip water until race start.

But, oddly enough, I LOVE pizza at the end of the race. Not as good as the asiago cheese bagel, but still pretty good. But I could imagine that if your stomach felt bad during the race, that pizza would be bad at the end.

Boy, was I ever kicking myself that I didn't put any cash in my bag check bag. A beer would have been great at the end of the race. Did you see that they were selling beer in the LC pavilion?

Sorry to hear you got sick.  It is hard to figure out what to eat prior to races.

Congrats on the race, now you have something to go on for future races.
