New to Ottawa. When will the lakes/rivers be warm enough to swim w/o a wetsuit??????

Sometime in mid-August.  Of course, by the end of August the rivers and lakes start freezing again!?!  Welcome to Ottawa ...

Really? I mean really really?? So I would need a full wetsuit for Smith Falls, Carleton Place, and maybe even Mooney's bay. I guess I had better break open my piggy bank.

Heck no, I usually am able to swim in Meach Lake by the middle of June (and I'm a cold wimp).  I did the National Capital Sprint at Mooney's Bay without a wetsuit last year, as did many others.  I think most of the local tris should be doable without a wetsuit - most people are wearing them for speed not warmth.  That said, I am going to wear one for the Ottawa Riverkeeper tri on June 16th  - that one may be marginal without the extra warmth.
