I know this has nothing to do with triathlon but... I wake up every night at least one time to pee. Sometimes it's two or three times. Is this normal? I asked my friends, and they all said that they never wake up to go to the toilette.

I don't but then I know when to cut off taking in fluids for the night so I don't have to get up. Because once I'm up, I'm up for the day.

Yeppers. I would imagine that as a triathlete you're consuming more fluids than your friends that say they don't get up to pee. But, three times a night might be a little excessive. This might be TMI, but someone told me that if you feel you absolutely have to go to the bathroom, but your pee session (for lack of better terminology) doesn't last at least 7 seconds, then you might have a problem.

You're normal. Your friends are not. They have medecine to help them with bed wetting.

Yes, but for me it's due to drinking a qt. of water before bed, then try to drink another qt. when I do get up to pee!

Gee, hate to bring this up but it is common for diabetics to awaken and pee during the night. Perhaps during your next physical you might have this checked. A simple thing to do and
could prevent a great deal of trouble later.

OH YEAH....typical is several times a night.  It's been that way for as long as I can remember and I'm 34 now.  On the plus side, I fall back to sleep quickly (call me 'Beetla Baily').

Not a bad idea to get the (personal) plumbing checked at your next physical, or at least mention it to your doc.

You are perfectly normal. Remember this: It is normal to get up and pee. It is abnormal to stay in bed and pee.

Not if you follow my link and take care of it ahead of time.

I wouldn't sweat the diabetes thing too much either.  If you were going all the time, day AND night, you might have a concern.  In an otherwise healthy and active person, it's not even worth worrying about.  Some folks just pee a lot.

I have two cats and a dog and if it weren't for them, I probably wouldn't ever wake up in the middle of the night to hit the WC, but when a critter ranging from 14 to 35 pounds decides to jump right on your bladder, then suddenly, you have to go...

I have learned to stop drinking fluid an hour or so before bed time to avoid having to go. However, I do keep a bottle of water on the night stand cus' it gets very dry with the heat on.

I go every night around 3:45. I didnt before I started training, but I think it is due to good hydration... I go again first thing when I wake up.

Every night I have get up at least once, but I don't have any problems falling right back to sleep.  The worst is when I have to get up and go pee an hour before my alarm goes off.

My wife does. When we first got married she would get up at least twice a night. After awhile we realized it was the little water fountani she would plug in to help her fall asleep.

Also pregnant women tend to get up duringing the night more...
