Thought it would be fun to start a "who's racing" thread for the Cardinal Harbour Half Ironman.

I'm registered!  Training starts Monday!  I'm nervous, but excited.  Who else is racing?

I would guess so.  They have the race name misspelled on Active.com, so its hard to find AND last year was the first year for the race, so I can't imagine it's sold out.

Great!  Looks like BT is going to be well represented!!!   My training plan starts today.  Anyone else using the 20 week BT plan?

I have looked at it, but am kinda doing my own thing. I am running the Derby festival mini marathon in April so my personal miles are a little more run heavy early. I plan on loosely following the plan for miles and when to ramp up and when to taper, but my work schedule makes it difficult to follow a rigid plan.

I live about 20 min from there. We can have the after-race party in my backyard. I have a pool and a hot tub. You have to shower first though, don't want that Ohio river water in my pool!

I signed up yesterday, my parents live about 5 miles from the race site so it will be fun to race on the old stomping ground.

I will be making my 70.3 debut at this race, as it's very close to my parents' house in Louisville. I did this race two years ago when it was an Olympic distance race. Tough bike.

I'm not quite ready for a HIM yet...this is my first year in the sport, but would like to come out and watch you guys compete.  Are you guys meeting up either the night before or sometime before or after race.  Would love to get to know a few BTers from my area. Good luck to all of you!!!

I did it last year and then did IMKY. I honestly can say that this race was harder for me than the IM was. The swim was an out and back and my splits were 32/19. I thought about quitting on the way out b/c of that darn current. And I made a wrong turn early on the bike b/c there was bad signage and nobody else around. So that cost me about 10 minutes or so. And then the run was HOT, HOT, HOT. Other than crazy Heather Gollnick, everyone seemed to be walking. Its a good race and I may do it again next year in preparation for IMKY again, but its a tough one.

Anyone know if this race fills up?  I'm just getting over an injury and would like to hold off on registering for another month to see how my training goes...

I'm pretty sure you could register on race day. I did that for last years Taylorsville Lake HIM, and will have to do that again next weekend.

Well, I am always afraid of getting locked out of races, because there are so few to do in this area. I would email Todd (race director) and ask him how full they are and see what you can get worked out!

This is a perfect prep race for IMLOU. I went over last year to watch some folks, it was so freaking hot I stood around for about 15 minutes and left, the sun was blazing. Pretty venue I love the Goshen area tried to talk my wife to move out there about 5 years ago no dice to far out for her.

I went out this weekend and rode the course.  It is BEAUTIFUL!  This was by far, my hilliest ride ever, and I was very slow, but the hills aren't horrible.  There are just a lot of them.  I was pleasantly surpirsed on the out and back portion.  I guess I expected steeper climbs, but it really wasn't so bad.  Riding the course made me want to work even harder on my climbing skills.  Very exciting to be there!

We drove around a lot, but never did quite figure out where the start was.  We found Cardinal Harbour Drive, but everything looked residential.  Didn't see anything that might resemble a park or a start area.
