Subject: American Independence day (4th of July) - weekend plans?

Just because I'm in the U.S. and celebrate Independence Day and it will be an extended weekend, I am curious to hear what my fellow BTers that celebrate that day will be doing.  You have any special plans?  Attending any fireworks show?

For all others, please post your plans, too!  I don't mind.

Starting off the day with a charity 5K.

Then probably just grilling in the backyard and kicking back with some beers.

No fireworks, mainly cause I'm lazy and find it's more of a pain to get to and from wherever they're held than it's worth.

Preferably with alcohol involved.

Fun trouble, I hope, and not one that ends up with a metal door closing at the police station.

You don't want to create your own fireworks?

Our city has a big fireworks display on the 3rd which we can see from our backyard, so we always have a big party for that. Flying out to Eugene on the 4th for the track and field trials! I'm really excited for this weekend!!!

Going to inlaws in Michigan. Bringing some Wisconsin Fireworks for our own show.

Riding the jet ski a bunch, getting a couple open water swims in and a long mountain bike ride.

We have a wedding this weekend - what a pain!  Luckily the rehearsal dinner is Thursday night and the wedding is on Saturday so we still get the 4th to ourselves.

Our town has a really nice 4th celebration at the local college.  Bands, stuff for kids then fireworks.  We never get to go because my 3 year old is afraid of the noise of the fireworks!  So, we'll probably go spend the day at the beach, BBQ there and watch the fireworks from a few towns along the coast.

I have a wife and kids. Realistically that means the best I can possibly hope for is to sit with her parents while they get trashed and talk crap about me because I'm staying sober in order to safely drive my wife and kids home. That's how every 4th is since I got married.

Watching the fireworks from the top of the Empire State Building...oh, wait...sorry, daydreaming again

Running a 10K at midnight, work at 6am, done at noon, nap, then Betsy and I are going to Tel Aviv (Spring Hill) for my grandmothers 92nd birthday.  After the festivities, we will go out and watch people, who can't afford gas, blow up some pretty good fireworks.

Running a 5k at midnight, then going to catch some fireworks somewhere.

Can't stay up too late though.  I have 112mi bike on the schedule for Saturday.  (Yet another holiday is sacrificed in the name of IM training.

I just got the 7th off, so I've got 4 glorious days of sleeping in waiting for me. My folks are visiting in a couple of weeks, my brother is likely camping with his GF at the beach, so we are on our own to do whatever we want. I love my family, but four beautiful empty days of me and hubby time is bliss.

I'm thinkin' bbq, sex,a bit of kitchen remodel project, sex, a bit of gardening, sex, knitting, sex, and of course swim/bike/run - if we're not too tired...

We can watch all the neighbors' fireworks. They all do illegal bottle rockets which drive the dogs nuts.

Tell them "Hey, I'd love to get stinking drunk with you, throw up, and then trash the vehicle with your grandkids in it, along with your daughter."
