Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Anyone here go to Bonzai or Conte's for their fit? I am putting my new bike together here soon and will be doing everything but cutting the steerer tube on the fork. My thought is to get it all together but not buy a stem and take it to the LBS so in the fit process they can switch out stems to see which one fits best then have them cut. From what I understand Bonzai has someone come in that is FIST certified, which I like but I really haven't had the best experience with Bonzai. Conte's isn't FIST certified but they sell and fit a lot of tri bikes, I would imagine more than Bonzai from the amount of Cervelo's I see with sold tags on them there. Also I have gone into Conte's alot and found them to be pretty cool folks. And I am sure this new bike and fit should put me over 23mph for all my bike splits for next year : ) |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() again, I recommend going to UVA to the speed clinic. I'll be heading to Charlottesville Dec 30th for my fit. Worth the trip. In fact, I'm going to call Jay about seeing if he can fit in my old bike as well on my own trainer, since I have discomfort on it. He did my road bike and is excellent. Spent 3 hours with me. |

Sneaky Slow ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I had mine done at Bonzai, with Eric Sorenson, FIST-certified. I had purchased aerobars, and had the guys at Bonzai install them prior to the fitting... I didn't have any issues at all. The fitting itself took about 1 1/2 hours, Eric was great. For the fitting itself, you set it up through Eric, not Bonzai... the shop is just the venue. I assume Bonzai gets a cut, but they don't have much to do with the fitting itself, nothing, actually. |

New user![]() | ![]() Anyone bought and been fit by Spokes? Im thinking about buying my first tri bike there and want to make sure that they can do the fit and advise me well |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I found a thread on ST talking about various places in the area. People seemed to like Conte's and Eric via Bonzai (though no one liked bonzai itself). There was some dicussion of Spokes so you might want to check out the thread. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Eric is now doing bike fits at Cycling Life USA www.cyclinglifeusa.com in Georgetown. Not only does he do FIST fits he can now do 3-D bike fitting ( www.retul.com ). They also have a fully staffed bike service center with turnaround times a fraction of what bike shops can offer. Check it out. |

Check it out. http://www.cyclelifeusa.com/ is the link. Looks like an interesting place, haven't heard of it before, they do VO2 tests and other testing type stuff, offer coaching. From their site, lol might be to high brow for me. "CycleLife is creating a whole new world for cyclists; a limited membership only Club Room providing its members with amenities, services and activities never before available in a cycling environment. CycleLife’s second floor Club Level houses this cyclist’s dream facility: A comfortable Club Room with a magnificent view of the Potomac, HDTV, media library and service from CycleLife Café; a full locker room with showers, steam room, warm towels and available massage therapy; a state-of-the art work out area with world class training equipment, indoor training classes and much, much more. " "CycleLife makes the cyclist’s lifestyle work. A suburban cyclist can ride in to Georgetown and valet their bike. A weekend rider can leave the bike at CycleLife and know it’s ready to ride at any time. CycleLife maintains a fleet of rental bikes — from high end racers to comfortable city bikes that meet the needs of visiting cyclists and up-and-coming enthusiasts. Visitors to CycleLife will find video-monitored bike racks and locks on the sidewalk in front of the Georgetown location. Cyclists can come to CycleLife as a destination — shop in Georgetown, visit the sights or socialize with friends; or cyclists can come to CycleLife as a starting point — joining a group ride, participating in a seminar or training program. New user![]() | ![]() i would check on st but its the most disorganized forum ever. what is the fitting shop review thread or what do i need to search for? |
![]() ![]() |
Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Go to the tri forum and search on Contes (spokes would probably get you too many hits) There is a thread on fitting in DC.

New user![]() | ![]() thanks for showing me where it is. i am currently looking for a good bike to purchase and just waiting for the weather to clear up enough so i can test ride a p2c and transition expert back to back. so eric is no longer with principle fitness and is with a different place? im curious as principle listed a retrofit for $100, which is much cheaper than the fit that all other shops are charging on top of what they want for the bike. im assuming that the retrofit is more than the basic you get from shops like contes with the purchase of a bike? |

New user![]() | ![]() I just spoke with them and they described what was involved in the fit and it seems like a really really specific fit using video and ir patches to watch the motion in which you pedal. They will be able to make adjustments to the bike and can recommend new pieces but if you need a longer stem, youll have to buy it so theres no parts swapping. They quoted $375 on the full fit. What is the Speed Clinic? |

New user![]() | ![]() Thats what that was called. He said it and I forgot it. Either way, I think as soon as I get my bike, Im going to head down there. Ive had a pretty bad wreck resulting in a few broken bones, including a compressed and fractured lower vertebrae so the best, most efficient and comfortable set up is needed. They sold me. |

New user![]() | ![]() i get fit on their universal set up bike on wednesday and cant wait. its going to help me nail down the best frame for me without spending the money on something that might not fit. i then get the bike and come back for the final fitting to the numbers. ill post up how it goes. theres apparently 40 minutes of riding involved, some of it pretty hard, and i have been on a bike in a couple of weeks and have done a lot of sitting/ eating, so this is going to be interesting. |

New user![]() | ![]() i just had the fit done by josh at cyclelife and it was awesome. everything from flexibility to cleat placement was checked. then i rode and was inputted into retul and got read outs on all my angles and pedal stroke and then the settings were adjusted in order to get all the settings where they should be in order to be in the best possible position. im glad i went as i learned a lot of things about myself and it helped me choose the right size frame/ bike model based on my stack and reach which helped me avoid buying a smaller frame than i should. josh is amazing and knows his stuff. highly recommend it. oh, and the place is spotless and extremely cool. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() OK so to bring this back up....... Anybody find anything new out about Spokes or have you gone to Conte's?? I'm really looking for a fit but with Eric at the high dollar place I'm guessing he's not working with/through Bonzai?? I tried to call/email them since the new manager is supposed to be doing fittings (according to the website) but haven't gotten any response/answers....looking for some good/recent first hand (or second hand...) knowledge on NoVA fittings (that are less then $375!) Thanks! |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I have a fitting scheduled with Seth on March 1st. He used to be at the Arlington Conte's but is now at the Bethesda one. For the full fit he quoted me 250 bucks. He told me that the new guy at Arlington was very good also but I had allready started talking to Seth and heard good things about him from people here so I wanted to stick with him for it. I'll let you know how it goes. TBH I wish I could get my fit done at Spokes but they don't sell any tri-bikes so I doubt they have anyone that can do a real Tri fit. In my bike build they have been the coolest/friendliest shop that I have visited. Very good people there. |

Member ![]() ![]() | ![]() Seth is very good. He did my fit at Conte's for my P2C about a year ago. I'm certain you'll be satisfied. Although a I didn't have my fit at Bonzai, several of my friends have had it done there and they are very pleased as well. Good luck! And pray that warmer weather gets here soon! |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'm thinking of heading to Bethesda myself, I need a touch up on my fit b/c my left cleat is definitely off... Tony, how did Seth work out for you? And as far as the Cycling usa place, do they do any without the digital? I'll head back to UVA to see Jay again, but I can't get down there till April. |
