Just for fun I thought I'd start a challenge thread.  My goal is to do 10,000 push ups this year.  Many of you can probably do more or do them quicker than a year, but it means I have to be consistent with my workouts.  It also ensures that I'm getting myself focused on training everyday, something that will help with my running, swimming, and cycling as well.  All are welcome to join, and for those that need to modify it and do what we used to call girl push ups, go for it!  It's an individual call for everyone!  So far I'm at 60 but will keep it posted so I have accountability!

At 120 so far.  Note to self, pushups prior to swimming = awful swim practice.  It took me 34 minutes to do 1000 yards...

I think I'm going to jump in on this too if that's OK. I'll get a slow start because I injured my wrist but I'll catch up. I used to do push ups daily and got pretty good but got out of the habit. I'll try some tonight and see how my wrist holds up.

Took it easy this morning and only did 20 push ups. I couldn't do pushups with my hands open due to my wrist but if I make a fist instead there isn't any pain. It also raises me up higher so I can do deeper pushups and affects the muscles differently. I kind of like doing them like this.

Are we going to do a spreadsheet to keep track or just keep posting what our total is in the thread?

I was waiting to see if anyone else was going to join, but they might come along in time.  I'll put up a spreadsheet today.

I'm at 220 today...slow and steady...

I'll play. I have done a few already this year but they were with a strength training dvd so I don't know how many. I really need to start working on my strength and I'd really like to eventually be able to do full pushups!
I'll start my count from today...so far I'm at zero..I just got out of bed

I have posted a spreadsheet on google docs.  Let me know if you have issues with it.  I didn't fill in everyone's stats yet as I'm not sure of what each person did earlier.  I have no access to a pullup bar right now, but if you want to start that then I'll join as soon as I have access to one!

Found it - thanks a lot.  I have the formulas in my to total for January and February if anyone wants to copy them - I don't know if docs works the same as excel.

Tonight I will put it in everyones if I find 10 free minutes.

80 more in this morning

I took a couple minutes and copied the formulas over through the rest of the spreadsheet and did some testing. I think we should be set through the end of the year.

Thanks Paul - my 10 free minutes can now be put to use for the bathroom renovation project - boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!

Ten minutes in the bathroom isn't going to get you very far.  At least not as far as a renovating project is concerned.

I'm updated on the spreadsheet. Up to 70 so far. I haven't included the ones i did prior to this as I didn't count them. I did them by time! But, they are already getting easier. I'll be able to do proper ones soon enough.
