we should have everyone put down the races they are entering, so we know who's doing what. Then ppl can contact each other if they want to meet... Just a thought.

Whoa, big turnout for Milton and GLII.

Look for the guy that swims in his bike shorts and wears the flaming bike jersey that says KAMIKAZI.

I will be doing Milton, Leamington, Guelph I and II, and the Steelhead 1/2 IM. Probably will add a couple more to that schedule such as Sarnia, Windsor and Detroit.

For those that are interested, there is a new triathlon series debuing this year. It's called the Ontario Triathlon Series (I think), and will include the following races:

Windsor Triathlon
Leamington Tomatoman
Sarnia (Bluewater Tri?)
Chatham Tri
Loaring Triathlon

and possibly 1 or 2 others. All the races are/will be OAT-sanctioned. One of the key differences for this series is the fact that all the triathlons involved have as a main focus charitable fundraising. As an example the Loaring Tri raises money to fund breast cancer research. For those triathletes in southwestern Ontario, I suggest that you look into these races as well. In order to help support the series, I've become a Level One OAT official

Oh no, no more drafting around Rennick anymore

Do you know if the new series has a website? I believe that the Leamington kids of steel race is also part of a new KOS series too.

I believe you're right about the KOS thing. There isn't a website up yet, but I believe they were planning for end of March. I'll throw the link out as soon as I know it.

Ok. holy cow....maybe I've been short sighted, I had no idea there were that many races in Ontario.

I'm beginning to find the Subara Series is getting busier and busier. Why have a drafting rule when there is so many people on the course it looks like one long line of riders.

So many choices so little time!

here is my plan.

Step One: get my arm healed and cast off April 11

April 30 Billy Taylor Memorial 5km Run

June 10 Lakeside Sprint Tri

June 18 TomatoMan Open Water Swim (1500m or 3000m)

June 24/25 Guelph Lake 1 Sprint

July 1/2 C3 Sprint Relay Tri with sisters (I'll do the bike portion)

July 17 Toronto Give-it-a-Tri

Sept 2/3 Guelph Lake 2 Sprint (most improved time between G1 and G2 wins a wetsuit!!)

I'm also looking into doing an adventure type race with my aunt.  We were going to do the Storm The Trent, but then I went and broke my arm and I don't think I'll be ready in time.  Any suggestions for other similar races?

Brockville in August for me. I did the Welland HSBC tri last year and had a blast. The race was very well run and the staff/volunteers were great. Well, except for that OAT official that had a filing cabinet shoved up his arse. I'm only assuming that was his condition. I think I saw him DQ 3 people for riding in the transition area before any of the races even started...

This being my first triathlon, I'm just doing GL1, so far. A question for those who have swam in that lake. Generally, is that lake very choppy?

That's a great idea! I will put together a spreadsheet this weekend with all the races that I can find and post it to the BT Ontario forum. If everyone replies with their updates I will consolidate and post the spreadsheet.

There are a TON of races in Ontario, we're damn lucky. I think there's something going on almost every weekend and in some weekend races are double booked. It's amazing!

Anyway, here's my plan for '07.

  • Milton Triathlon, June 3
  • Lakeside Triathlon, June 10
  • Guelph Lake Olympic, June 24
  • Peterborough Sprint, July 8
  • Niagara Triathlon, July 22
  • Toronto Island Triathlon, Aug 18
  • The Canadian Half Ironman, Sept

This year, I will be doing less triathlons due to lack of funds.  I have penned in 3 triathlons that will definitely be doing and one "maybe":

    1. Jun 16,  Ottawa River Keeper, Ottawa, Ontario (maybe)
    2. Jul 15, Graham Beazley HIM, Carleton Place, Ontario
    3. Aug 5, K-Town Long-Course Triathlon, Kingston, Ontario
    4. Sep 1, Canadian Iron Triathlon, Ottawa, Ontario

ok here is what I am thinking for this summer... I have to check dates, and this can all change based on school.  I'd like to do GL 1 and 2, Bellwood, Lakeside, Storm the Trent (adventure race, with my aunt that we were supposed to do last year until I broke my arm, and then she went and broke her arm) Kingston might be fun.  Spend the weekend with my sister and brother in law.  and in the fall I'm going to try to do the Toronto 1/2 mary.  Oh yeah. and I think I'll be in Kentucky for Aug.. so that may change things too.

Basically, I have no idea what I am going to do.
