Pro 3906 Libertyville, IL | Subject: Crummy Winter Weather Challenge Week two (Nov 19-25) I will be out of town so got this thread started early. Your Saturday workouts should still go to the week one thread. I will update week one spreadsheet by Tuesday. The formula and multipliers are as follows:
From a reporting standpoint, you may go daily or weekly. Simply report your scores as follows: jszat- M- 235 T-0 W-310 Th-0 Fr-0 Sa- 650 Su-0 You really only need to report days ya did, but you get the idea. Spreadsheet will be posted every Monday for the previous week. |

Are we going to consider insanity points for those who attempt an OWS in sub 40degree weather? |

Expert 1148 NW Suburbs, Illinois | Subject: RE: Crummy Winter Weather Challenge Week two (Nov 19-25) OK. I am in this, albeit, my numbers won't be great b/c I am nursing my knee. So, I had one workout last week. If the weather cooperates, I should have some other workouts this week, which I will report on time. Last week: Sat, Nov. 18: 23 (thats it, it was 34 w/ 4mph winds, what can you do?) I need to pick up my game. C'mon snow. C'mon cold. C'mon healthy knee |

38.41 x (0+4+3) = 268.87 I vote for a National Weather Service Warning Bonus...maybe a way for us in the South to keep up....maybe a .2 or .5 if the NWS has posted a warning for your area. If it doesn't over complicate things. Thoughts?! Edited by Tri'nNC 2006-11-22 8:48 AM |

RE the NWS bonus, considering they routinely call for blizzards in these parts that fizzle out to nothing, I think we should stick with what its actually doing out there. With all the internet radar and stuff, it is easy enough to see whats going on and squeeze one before the crud hits the fan under a warning if you wanted to. |

The multiplier with above 30 is 0 and winds under 5 is 0. So, time x 0= zero. I could put it on the sheet, but wouldnt that just bum you out ? |

Master 3019 West Jordan, UT | Subject: RE: Crummy Winter Weather Challenge Week two (Nov 19-25) major suck factor for wind today!!! It was 17mph during the calm parts of my ride and 23+ during the rest with INSANE gusts. Wind had calmed to 15 by my run. Temp wasnt too bad (45) So 96 mins * (1 bike + 4 wind) = 480 12 min brick run * 2 wind = 24 Total Thanksgiving suckage = 504!!! |

Being out of town, didn't list my points for last week: sparco - M - 112.5 This week's points haven't been sucktacular: sparco - T - 56 W - 26 Th - 6 Have been trying to get out earlier when the temperature is still low, but only able to roll out of bed by 9am and by then the temp's already in the mid 30s! Don't get me wrong. I love this weather, but it's just not boosting my crummy points... |

molto veloce mama 9311 | Subject: RE: Crummy Winter Weather Challenge Week two (Nov 19-25) oooh, i just checked yesterday's weather for my 11k run. it was 32 w/ mild winds (8mph)! woo hoo!. points! nov 23rd: 1.5 x 63 = 94.5 AND according to weather.com, it was only 29 w 9mph winds when i ran wednesday morning. i swear our temp thing outside the house said it was 38 or something. maybe i needed more coffee nov 22nd: 2 x 35 = 70 i bet i earned some points today, since it was cold when i left. i can't get the hourly breakdown for TODAY, until tomorrow. wtf? i can get the hourly temps for the last few days, and the hourly forecasts for tonight and tomorrow...but nada for 9am this morning. damnit! it was warm on the last part of the ride, but windy, so maybe i can squeeze some points out of my ride after all. never mind - found the info here: http://www.weatherperhour.com/ i was out for 5 hours today - riding for 4:30. rode down to the trail head, waited 15 for other riders. 15 minute rest at the turn around. how should i break it down? 9am - 45, winds 8mph 10am - 48, winds 11mph 11am - 50, 13mph 12noon - 54, 11mph 1pm - 54, 9mph no temp points, but wind!!! that's something. so, 30 + 60 + 60 + 60 + 30. should i take off 15 for the time i wasn't riding, or just count the whole time i was gone, including rest stops?. so, nov 24th: 240 (or 225) Edited by autumn 2006-11-24 6:09 PM |
