Subject: CDA bike course elevation gain?

Hi everyone,

I'm doing CDA next month. I've been trying to find out what the elevation gain is on the bike course. I've found a few answers, but they all seem to be different.  AND, I'm not sure if they are from the old course or the new one. (I think the course changed last year).

If anyone knows where I can find this info or has data from the 2007 race, I sure would appreciate it! I'm hoping to set up my upcoming long rides on a similar course.

Thanks!

Tea

You're going to hear different elevation totals but somewhere around 5000 feet of total climbing for both loops is pretty close.  It's probably a little more than that but not too much.

MapMyRun is notoriously inaccurate for this kind of thing.  Unfortunately, that program just takes the difference between the lowest elevation and the high point of your run or ride and then calls that the "total" elevation gain.  Bad stuff.

Good luck with your training.  See you in about 36 days!

I ran the course through my Topo software and it shows 3200 ft for each loop. We've compared the Topo totals to Garmin output on rides before and it's very reliable.
