Subject: Lake Lure question from out-of-state

Hello NC,

I'm signed up for the Lake Lure triathlon in a few weeks.  I've never been there, and have no idea what to expect, but it looked like fun.

Does anybody here have any clue about what the swim is like -- especially water temps?

I've never done that race, and googling didn't turn up any information. I'd suggest contacting the race directors.

I have seen Lake Lure from the top of Chimney Rock. It's a picturesque scene for sure. If you get the chance to do the trails at Chimney Rock after the race, do it (assuming you have anything left in your legs, that is!) Probably don't want to do those trails BEFORE the race, as they are rugged, with lots of climbing.

It looks like a very pretty area.  (I was going to be in Asheville anyway, and saw this, and thought I'd give it a go.)

It looks like I'm the only one who is interested here, but in case not:  I found out that last year the swim was not wetsuit legal, and is not expected to be this year.  (Since I don't have a wetsuit, I'm glad...)

Hey all. Check out where I am from.... PM me with any questions. The swim will not be wet suit legal. Due to the drought, the swim location may change. At this point is it where it is listed in the sign up.  Pray for rain between now and then and things will be better.

I won't be there this year, due to family vacation plans.

It should be fun.
