So yesterday's sprint had the run and bike course long- not advertised as being long, but it ended up that way.  Because of this, I didn't hit my goal for the race nor did I finish with a faster time than the year before.  BUT, all of my paces and transitions are faster than last year...the overall time is only slower because the course was long.

Would you still call that a PR for the course??

Personally no because it was a different course so you can't really compare.

But your transitions were faster so that's a good thing.

IMO, getting a PR in a sprint or Oly can be tough unless you PR that actual course.  Both of these distance can be slightly different.  Even though an oly is suppose to be 1.5Km, 40K and 10K sometimes the bike course is slightly different.  Now the swims are generally off since measuring is though.  I only keep track of my PR's like I mentioned above, by course not race type.  Now I think you are better off for HIM/IM but even those can be off slightly (on your computer) compared to how they were measured.

Yes. Since you had never done that exact course before it is a PR. This first time at any course is always a PR for that course.

My four races this year have all had different distances, so I've been paying more attention to the split times: x/100y, xmph, and x/mi. If it's not the same course, you can't really compare, but speed is speed.
