Birthday wishes for a trainer...

Expert  1245    New York Bronze member |  Subject: Birthday wishes for a trainer...So, I'm gonna ask Santa/The Tooth Fairy/Parents for a bike trainer for my birthday next month. I think I'm pretty much convinced that a fluid trainer is the way to go, but anyone have any recommendations for which brand they like? Or is it 6 of one, etc.? I'm looking for something relatively affordable (around $200, is that crazy?). Anyone recommend any particular brand over another? Kinetic? Cycleops? Help! I picked up a KK road machine based on ALL the positive things I read about it hear---just got it so I've only used it a couple of times but I'm very impressed with it---well built, smooth, quiet, easy to use.... It is over your $200 limit but you can get it for less then $250 shipped which is very reasonable for all the positive reviews it gets... |

Kurt Kinetic and CycleOps 2 are both really popular around here, but I am biased towards the Kurt because I has 2 new CycleOps trainers leak on me within weeks of each other (purchased both from the same authorized dealer). The Kurt models are build differently than any other fluid trainer, being that theirs are the only ones with completely sealed fluid chambers = will not leak ever. I also like the optional watt meter computer that you can get for around $30 to measure power output. Tom Demerly has a good review HERE of the Road Machine, and word has you can pick up a very, very, very similar model (wink wink) for $217.99 from his online store.
