Subject: Left knee pain on the bike
I know it is difficult to say without looking at a picture or watching me ride but I thought I would try anyways. I get pain on the outside of my left knee when I ride. I have a Cervelo tri-bike and had it fit at a shop. I changed the pedals to speedplays and still have the pain. My knees stay tight to the toptube and do not flare out. Would any of you recommend raising/lowering seat. It seems to hurt more when I ride on the trainer than outside. Any help would be great.

only thing i can think of to suggest is adjusting the float on the pedals to give you more room..... i use to get some weird pains (outside ankle etc) and just fiddlin' with that helped. other than that... have someone watch you from being and double check to make sure your knee movement is normal and doesnt curve out/in. May need shims.

Which model Speedplays (X or Zeros) because if you have the X then there is no float to adjust, it is always floating (what I use).  The cleat position itself may be wrong (to far dorward or back on the shoe).

Other than that, there is zero I can suggest because your position on the bike is an unknown.

Cleat and seat position both have the potential to cause knee pain but if you've been fitted correctly then these shouldn't be an issue.

Maybe it is a problem that is being exaggerated when cycling rather than actually caused by cycling.  Maybe a tight ITB?

I'm no doc or bike guy, but that was my first thought.
