Subject: Anybody Cranking On A Kuota K-Factor??
Hey buddies my roadie is a size XL Specialized Tarmac with a 582mm TT and a 90mm stem, a larger frame / higher top tube with a little shorter stem because of my stiff neck. I am looking at Tri bikes now that I've finished a couple of Oly's. With only a little riding, I am considering a Kutoa K-Factor because the geometry works pretty well for me: Size Large has a 560mm TT and 150mm head tube... a little more comfortable than the full racer aero of some more professional time trial bikes like the insane Spesh Transition. I test-rode a size Medium K-Factor, and liked it, but gosh, who knows?

Chainlove* is blowing our 2008 K-Factors for under $1100 .... full carbon with Profile Design bars, Ultegra crank and drivetrain, 105 brakes, and plausible Shimano RS-10 training wheels (that will work great on my commuter!). The 2008 has some disadvantages to the 2009, like external cable guides and a standard (round) seat tube, but the overall trickle down from their hot bikes is clearly evident. Price is not my top discriminator, bit I think this is at the top of the list even if my budget is north of two large.

OK, so I sound like a total shill ... I am not.... but does anyone have serious miles on a K-Factor? What's the verdict? Any insight is appreciated. Scorching criticism is also welcome. Hit me.

*Chainlove: Be careful if you don't know what this is yet.... It's kind of like an online crack house for bike junkies. (They are affilliated with BackCountry.com)

2IM's; 9 half's; a few dozen shorter distance races on my '06 - It's been bomb-proof.

Not the stiffest frame in the world; somewhat relaxed position; and by the standards of some other marques, it's no featherweight. BUT at that price? Forgetaboutit - it's a steal. You can go years and not need anything more - I counsel going for it and using the saved money for some blingy-race wheels.

$1100, no kidding!

I got some PM questions about the Chainlove price I quoted above $1100. (For example: "Hey, jsselle, you are full of crap"). Chainlove (mountain bikes) and BonkTown (road bikes) are associated with backcountry.com, and backcountry.com outlet. Chainlove and Bonktown sell very low quantities of one item at a time at rather low prices for only a very short time.... not always a steal, but usually priced pretty low. The deals are usually good for only a few minutes... and once the quantity listed sells out or the time expires, the deals are gone. You have to get good at figuring out how to find the stuff you want when they have it on sale.

Right now on backcountry.com outlet, K-Factor's are selling for about $1600. I caught K-Factor's on Chainlove (actually on Bonktown, via a link from Chainlove) for ~$1025 plus ~$30 for shipping, so clicked fast to order, figuring out I'd decide on the bike when it came in. I've boughr from them before.... it's good stuff and good service. No crap....
