I need to get faster.

I'm looking for people that want to do a group run once a week or so. Distance would be 5 to 8 miles: pace would increase to 7 to 7:30 pace by the second mile. As conditioning improves, so will the pace. These would be steady-state or tempo runs. Prefer to meet in the Redondo Beach/South Bay area, but would consider WLA or ??? Email me at [email protected] or comment/reply here. Please.

Doug, this group http://www.rockhardrunners.com/  meets at the hermosa pier, I think Tuesday evenings.  Eric is pretty fast.   There's also Holger's LA tri run, 11 am Sundays south redondo TJ's parking lot, but they run trails.

Thanks Chris. Unfortunately the Tues & Thurs evening runs they do at Rock Hard Runners are the same nights I have my Masters swimming. It will be on a break in a couple weeks until mid-Sept, so maybe I'll join them then. Similar problem with the Holger's run on Sunday's. For the next few weeks I want to follow up my Sunday morning ocean swim from the Manhattan Beach pier with a quick change to running gear and then do a 4 mile fast paced run on the Strand to prepare for the Pacific Open Water Challenge Aquathlon. Previously, I've been following up on my Sunday morning swim with a long-ish bike ride, so I've never been able to hook up with Holger's 11 am run.

Ideally I'd prefer to work out early in the morning. I'm used to doing my runs then. After work, sometimes I have difficulty finding the energy to do a hard workout. I'm often tempted to ditch my evening commitment to Masters Swimming (but of course, I rarely do).

So the offer still stands; who wants to do a fast mid-distance run, about once a week on a Monday, Wednesday or Friday morning. I'm good any time from 5:30 to 7:30 am to start. Ideally in the South Bay.

For that matter, who wants to do some practice aquathlons on Sunday mornings at the Manhattan Beach pier? One mile fast swim, then run up to the showers/changing room to transition to running gear and immediately hit the Strand for a 4 mile fast run?

Come on, it will be fun. Honest.

Yeah, I get it about the schedule. If I were anywhere near fast (or in shape, or have run in the last month), I'd love to join you...

Yeah, the schedule. Fitting enough swim, bike and run workouts into a week, plus getting to the gym a couple times, and then the non-tri part of life... When do you do your easy days?
