Subject: Burn out
Since the NYC Tri (July 26) I have been exceedingly tired.  True, that week, I had family visiting and was only getting 4-5 hours sleep per night, but now after a lot of rest, I am still tired.

Is it burn out when all you want to do is stay home and sleep.  Currently I am debating going for a swim, but at the same time, I am so tired, I think I just want to take a nap and clean my house.  I was supposed to go to a spin class this morning and instead just laid in bed watching movies.

Maybe I need a longer break.  I am just tired, losing muscle mass, and getting chubby.

Hm..   I am looking forward to going to school this fall though - hopefully.

Maybe just tired. :-)

I do have a tri September 27, that I really wanted to do.  Did the bike course yesterday.  "Seems/feels" long, but fun. But oh so tired.  And I was depressed for a bit.  I may need to drop out if continue with tiredness/depression.  *shrug*  Hate to do it.

It could be burn out, it could be general tiredness, it could be a let down after a race, and it could be a physical problem such as anemia, low iron, thyroid issues, etc.  If you don't get your mojo back you might want to get a checkup with your PCP.

You're not alone.  I've felt a bit of the same let down in past after big (for me) events.  Hard to get motivated. I start to feel better after getting out for a few lighter workouts in my fav sport (cycling).  Once I noticed that pattern (get going again to feel better) it got easier to bounce back.

MDHillSlug - thanks for reminding me.  I am actually anemic - was running low iron/hemoglobin/etc a couple of months ago and yet have not been taking my iron.  (It is SOOOO expensive.  I have to take liquid iron not to irritate the stomach.  ack the expense.  I guess maybe I need to start taking it again.)  I'm really not an idiot.  I just play one on TV.

Oldteen:  Thanks for commisserating. It does take me a while to get my mojo back.  The NYC Tri was a big exciting race for me and my family was here.  It was really great.  And I do get post race blues. Sigh.  Post race blues on top of normal clinical depression = no fun.

I think I can try to swim today.  That is my favorite activity (and my slowest ironically).  :-)

Thanks.
