HIM near Vancouver

Hey all,

I was thinking of stepping up in distance this year and maybe doing a HIM if I can find one that fits my calendar. 

I'm looking for a race after about mid-August as I need sufficient time to train for this distance.  I know Sooke has one in early August, but it conflicts with something else I have on (Lion King tix), so I started looking south of the border.  I don't want to travel too far, but I've found the following 3 that peaked my interest:
- Lake Stevens 70.3
- The Grand Columbian near Spokane
- Black Diamond in Enumclaw

The reviews I've read about Lake Stevens have not been great and the fees are quite high (its an Ironman event after all)  Previous participants have commented on "Hill Billy Locals" cutting off cyclers on the course (their words not mine).  One cyclist fell because a dog ran onto the course.   See http://www.mediocreathlete.com/races/ironman-craps-on-its-brand-wit... for an interesting perspective on the event.

The Grand Columbian (Sept 18) is one that looks interesting, but would prefer one a little closer.

Black Diamond (Sept 25) also looks interesting - can't find too many reviews on it.

I would be interested in hearing if any of you have any comments on the Grand Columbian or Black Diamond as to which one is better organized, better course, better swag, etc ...

Are there any other HIM that are worth considering in the mid Aug to late Oct time frame ?  I'm going in the Vancouver tri in early Sept, so I probbaly don't want to race within a couple weeks either side of that one.
