Sunny
Total Time = 1h 28m 26s
Overall Rank = /
Age Group = f 30-34
Age Group Rank = 9/26
Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 4:45, out the door at 5 am, stopped at 7-11 for coffee and ate a banana. Got to the race site and the lines were long. I knew the race wouldn't start in time.
Swim
  • 25m 53s
  • 800 meters
  • 03m 14s / 100 meters
Comments:

I'm just terrible. What can I say.
Transition 1
  • 01m 6s
Comments:

Everything went fine in transition. No socks for such a short bike. The racks were open, so I got a spot on the 2nd rack closest to the bike exit.
Bike
  • 31m 59s
  • 10.5 miles
  • 19.70 mile/hr
Comments:

Had a nice bike. Very easy course, a bit of wind but nothing annoying. I didn't push it too hard.
Transition 2
  • 01m 5s
Comments:

No problems.
Run
  • 28m 21s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 09m 09s  min/mile
Comments:

They were handing out warm water. Gross.
Post race
Warm down:

Tried to find a drink. The water at the finish line was WARM! Took me awhile to find something cold to drink. Sat down and tried to cool off, then packed up my stuff. Headed back to race tent and had some coffee (yes, they had hot coffee) and a cookie, checked early results, went home.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My head.

Event comments:

This was not an important race to me, so I am trying not to hate myself over it. I had to do a brick that day,so I figured I would go do the race. A few people were supposed to do it with me but didn't.
The race was poorly run. Distances were off, it started late, and the lack of cold water at the end really sucked.

My slowest 5K in awhile. It was so darn hot, and I wasn't there mentally. I am going downhill with my attitude as the season progresses.
Course: First thing out of transition you have a to go up a huge flight of stairs and then down the other side. The rest of the run followed a sidewalk and when partially on grass in the middle. The majority of the run was not shaded.

Sounds like a good training day, if not a good race. Nice bike split. The swim distance must have been WAY off with those kinds of times. MMMMM, warm water, very refreshing. Unbelievable how some races just can't figure out those kind of basic details (ice! what a novel concept!).

Great day regardless....  I cannot believe they had warm water there... gross indeed...   I did the galveston international traithlon... and believe it or not they ran out of water in some of the stations...  the volunteers were there with cups.. but not water... imagine that...

Anyway...  Great race regardless...  we need to work in our swimming..    Your bike split was awsome....  Congratulations...

cheers
