Today I packed up the familly into the van and we headed down to Gulliver's Lake (near African Lion Safari, north of Hamilton).  What a brilliant spot for Open Water Swim training!

The water is clean and quite clear. Its a fairly small lake - a loop around the perimiter is approx. 1000m.  I swam 4 loops feeling comfortable that if I got too tired or cramped I was always within 25m of the shore.

I love it there! In addition to my evening team workouts, a few if my triathlon mom friends and I have been going during the week. We take turns watching the kids play on the beach while we get a good OWS in.

My husband and I love it too!   Great cycling from there as well, after your swim.    Depending on what you are looking for, some tough hills staying on Safari, but get off of it (south) and the route is nice and flat.   We're hoping it doesn't become too popular!  Laughing

I'm a fan of Binbrook for OWS, warm water and easy to get to from Oakville - beats Kelso hands down and not quite as far as Gullivers.
