I'm starting a little side business, well  actually ramping up an existing one and taking on a partner.  Freelance photography.  I do 6-7 weddings a year and a handful of senior portraits, and a bunch of corporate headshots....

My question is.  What's the best web hosting service out there?  Zenfolio, Smugmug, GoDaddy etc??  What do you use?? If you use one...

I don't know who is best, but the real answer to that will lie in you first determining your needs -- how much space do you need, do you have any idea how much monthly data transfer/bandwidth you'll need, will your site need support for any "advanced" technologies like ASP.NET, DreamWeaver, ColdFusion, Flash, etc..?  Will you be building the site on your own, using a canned solution, or hiring a developer to custom-roll a solution?

I've used virtual private servers from aSmallOrange and 1and1.com.  I've also had a dedicated server from 1and1. All were decent and affordable for what they were, but that is mostly because on the technology side of things I was comfortable doing everything on my own.  Since then, I outgrew those solutions and have since gone the route of building my own physical server and shipping it to a Tier 1 datacenter for colocation hosting.  I now own the costs for all of the hardware and it's on me if something fails/crashes, but I also got all the horsepower I wanted and then some..... but, again, it all came down to needs.

+1 (on some of that.)

I use godaddy for my clients because if there is an issue their tech support is based out of Arizona where a lot of hosting companies you get India. If I'm having technical issues the last thing I want to deal with is trying to understand what someone is saying.
