Hello! My name is Matt and I am a student at Towson University. I am just getting into triathlons and so I am looking for a mentor/ training partner. I do not have a whole lot of experience and so a mentor would be great. I am a hard worker and once I put my mind to something, I will do it. Doing triathlons have always been my dream goal. I have always wanted to do one. Ever since I was a little kid I have always picked on due to being overweight. I want to change that. I want to live a healthy life and enjoy the life of being a triathlete. If anybody wants to help out, txt me 4107079668

Matt -- have you considered joining a tri club in your area? A quick Google search found two that might work for you:

http://www.baltimoretriathlon.org/
http://www.midmdtriclub.org/

Both seem to have nominal annual fees to join. That might be a good place for you to start.

Good luck!

Allen make a great suggestion for you to look at some local clubs/teams.  that is usually a great source of info and structured training for someone starting out. And don't be intimidated most all of these clubs have members from podium winners to back-of-the-packers so anyone will fit in.

Tri Team Z is another one to look at as well, not sure if they have a group local to you but they get a crap ton of folks out at many of the races.

I split time between Fairfax County VA and AA County MD so not really too close to you.  I've never done Columbia but i hear it is a good race.

I had read the articles on BT, I'd trained, and I thought I had prepared. There were, however, a few things that I didn't internalize despite what I'd been told.
