Extreme Veteran  1106   , Connecticut |  Subject: outside leg, above ankle painAnyone know what a pain on the outside of my leg, right above the ankle means? There's something there, maybe a tendon? Do I stretch it, ice it. After a run it can be a sharp pain, sometimes no pain at all. Not looking for medical advice, just if this is a common experience. |

Master 3127 Sunny Southern Cal | Subject: RE: outside leg, above ankle pain Battled peroneal tendonitis for about 18 months on one side just below the upper attach point on the fibula. Finally overcame it with lots of massage and stretching my IT Band regularly. It was tenacious. Doctor suggested I consider surgery to release the nerve, but that sounded very dicey to me and I opted against that. Things eventually worked out. I dialed running volume back for a while, but I did run the entire time. Doctor did say that it was more common to experience the issue low on the leg, not up high where I had problems. Good luck, be patient. |
