Total Time = 5h 26m 36s
Overall Rank = 121/502
Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 26/68
Pre-race routine:

I had 3/4 of a clif bar and 16oz of Perpetuam with hammer gel at 5am. (two hrs and twenty minutes before the start)

Propbably Spent too much time setting up T1/T2.
Event warmup:

Did a little warm up in place and stretched but did not get my short run in as planned. No big deal but rookie move.
Swim
  • 31m 49s
  • 2112 yards
  • 01m 31s / 100 yards
Comments:

Placed myself at the front but on the far side. Took about 10 mins to get into the groove (didnt have time to warm up). Only had a couple of places where I had to mix it up a bit with the mosh pit. I used the tip on moving towards people who wanted some elbow action ;).
What would you do differently?:

Heading out I took a wide path. I did have a good corner but also went too wide heading into T1. I need to focus on swim path.
Transition 1
  • 03m 30s
Comments:

overall good T1 - right heel got stuck a bit but good overall.
What would you do differently?:

work on getting wetsuit off.
Bike
  • 2h 59m 38s
  • 60 miles
  • 20.04 mile/hr
Comments:

Good Bike leg - IT took a while to get HR into the right zone. I felt good and probably took the 1st loop harder than I should. Some sections of the road were patchy but good overall.

Kept cadence high to avoid any knee/IT band issue which seemed to work out. With average speed just over 20 mph I was happy with the bike.

Felt great for first loop; dragged a bit midway through second loop but finished strong.
What would you do differently?:

Work on negative split. Second loop was a bit behind.
Transition 2
  • 02m 20s
Comments:

Good T2 - No complaints.
What would you do differently?:

Next time I should coast and ride side saddle and hop off to keep moving.

Make sure new socks are not inside out.
Run
  • 1h 49m 39s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 08m 22s  min/mile
Comments:

I think I ate too much on the bike. I am going to check intake stats later this week. Felt good getting into pace but could not get HR up and kick it into gear. I was able to pass a bunch of people but fewer towards the end of the race.

Had a strong finish with a good final kick passing three people at the end.
What would you do differently?:

Eat less on the bike.

Stay true to my HR pace and kick it into gear at last 3 miles.

Awesome race and even with the extra distance/time, you put up killer times.

Great job!
