Elite 2729 Puyallup, WA | Subject: The Love-able 5K Challenge.... What is it? I'm glad you asked :-) The Love-able 5K Challenge, is a BT sponsored (YAH! BT!) challenge that does a few things: (1) Encourages you to get to 5K Distance (2) Gets you ready for the online race(OR in person if you happen to be in the state of Washington or near by!), which raises money for Corner of Love (to be discussed later) Goal is to run 5K straight...and yes there will be a prize. A GREAT! PRIZE!! (I like exclamation points.) The prize will be a 6 Month Silver Membership!!!!!!!!!!!!! And the prize will be raffled off to any challenge participants who logs 5 kM miles for one day - on foot. So ANYONE and EVERYONE who gets out there and does 5 kM in a day, walking, skipping, jumping rope, etc., has a chance!!! (Jump ropers who do 5K get a special mention....:-D) So why am I training, Lisa? I'm soooo glad you asked :-) On the weekend of April 22nd (Friday) through April 24th (Sunday) there will be an online 5K. And for this event, you will log a 5K where ever you can, anytime on those dates, and you will get entered into ANOTHER raffle for a 6 Month Silver Membership!! So what is Corner of Love, Lisa? I'm glad you asked ;-) Corner of Love ministries is an outreach to the people of San Ramon, Nicaragua. Corner of Love's missions provide medical and dental brigades to San Ramon, Matagalpa, Nicaragua. The June trips will focus on a shoe drive for children to receive shoes for school. Do I have to/get to go to Nicaragua? No...he he he he :-) You don't HAVE to go to Nicaragua...thats why you're joining the challenge and the online 5K. You're joining the online 5K and making donations to the Corner of Love in my name and my team, (June Team #2 Brigade, Lisa T.) Can you go to Nicaragua?? Of course....check out the website if you'd like more info: http://www.corneroflove.org/col.asp Or visit on your own... :-D How do I sign up/get into the Love-able 5K Challenge?? I'm SO glad you asked! I've created a spreadsheet on google specifically for this challenge. It's called the "Love-able 5K Challenge." (Yes, creativity is a gift bestowed unto us most fortunate ones :-D) Just add your name to the spreadsheet and you are ready! https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0An7ZkKfHG1L1dDZTTW5nLTJwWUJGZm1fRWVHS19TSFE&hl=en#gid=0 On that sheet you will track your current personal best starting from today through April 21st. (THROUGH = midnight, EDT or rather 11:59 P.M. EDT because 12:00 A.M. is technically the 22nd) To log into the spreadsheets: email address: [email protected] password: challengeforum If you can't access the spreadsheet: Scroll to the bottom, and look at the bottom right corner. If it says, "edit this page," click that link and enter the info above. That's it?? I just read through all of that to enter one piece of information?? Well yes...but on the positive side you only really have to read through this post once....(I'm trying to look at the glass half full...so bear with me!) How can I register for the online 5K? If I said I'm glad you asked...would that seem repetitive? The online race is SEPERATE from the challenge. For the challenge I am not requesting donations, but for the online race I am. All you have to do is send me a PM :-) Do I get a prize for reading through this entire post? No. . . . . But I'll greet all the new participants!! To recap a bit: There are 2 events: (1) The challenge and (2) The online race and there will be 2 SEPERATE raffles. (Each raffling off of a 6 month silver membership for BT.) You don't HAVE to be in both. I am only requesting donations for the online race (Of course donations are accepted at any time.) Good luck and kick some buck!! (It rhymed with "luck") Edited by lkct01234 2011-02-09 2:33 PM |

Elite 2729 Puyallup, WA | Subject: RE: The Love-able 5K Challenge.... I got asked a very good question by a very smart man :-D What do you do if you run less or MORE than 5K? I've added columns to the spreadsheet to calculate/estimate your 5K time. There will be no "winner" but this is something you might want to track. If you don't want to track it...just delete those formulas from your row! |

Well you say that is "all" and for some of us, it's quite a feat...but yes. The idea is to run or walk 5K in one day. If you can better your time at that...AWESOME! Welcome to the challenge! |

So it's going to be awhile before I do anything. But since this challenge goes through April, well, I had *better* be feeling better by then!!!! Where it asks for a time -- how current does that time need to be? Ie: do you only want times from when this challenge started? Or do you want our personal best, even if that occurred awhile back? |

Elite 2729 Puyallup, WA | Subject: RE: The Love-able 5K Challenge.... I did a 5K today...for a combination of reasons, but the main reason was because I wanted to add a time to the spreadsheet that wasn't in the 30's. I DID run for a combined distance of 5K at a time of 46:54. I'm a slow runner and not afraid to admit it! But I did it! (I am not, however, going to entire myself in the raffle...I just wanna represent us woggers!!) |
