Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Please think about your vote! Keep in mind it is not a "lifetime achievement award"! What did they do THIS YEAR? I realize it is very difficult to determine who the best player in the country is. However, it is easy to determine who it is not! |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I wouldn't vote for him but I think Jeremiah Masoli deserves some kudos for the year. He's pretty darn good. I thought everyone giving Casey Clausen some early "votes" in the season was way premature and my suspicions proved correct. Right now I would vote either for Mark Ingram or Tim Tebow. But, now that I really think about it, my vote for Tebow would be more because I like him as a stand up guy with high character virtues. So I guess it would have to be for Ingram since the trophy is all about football. |

Regular ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Of the three front runners I think Ingram has been the most impressive, the guy just doesn't go down easy. But as for I who I think deserves it... I really like Stanford's Toby Gerhart. The guy is a beast. |

That just shows that neither of them deserve it. Tebow didn't win it because of his passing game as a sophomore. He won it because he had 32 passing TD and 21 rushing TD. He is nowhere close to those numbers now. Since no quarterback with an actual chance of winning it has the numbers this year, I'd like to say it's going to one of the many deserving running backs but history has shown that this may not be true. |

Tebow didn't deserve it the year he won either, imo. This year it's probably between Ingram & Gerhart, with Colt coming in 3rd & Keenum or Spiller coming in 4th & Tebow 5th. |

Who else deserved it over him? He had over 3200 yards passing and just under 900 yards rushing to go with his 23 rushing TD's and 32 Passing TD's. He also had a TD rush and pass in every game. That is one of the most impressive years I've ever seen. |

Neither of them deserve it. Look at who McCoy has gotten those statistics against. Throwing for a gazillion yards against a bad A&M team doesn't mean much when you can't do it against the good teams. I would say Gerhart, but it is a pretty weak field this year across the board. Tebow will prolly win it, unfortunately. |

McFadden was better, imo. btw Ingram's Heisman chances took a significant hit today w/ his crappy production today, and he's out of the running if he can't make the SEC title game. I think Tebow's about out of it as well(though that could change depending on his FSU totals), he's 6th in the ESPN poll right now. I'm guessing Colt, Gerhart, Ingram, & maybe Spiller make the trip to NYC, but Colt had his 'heisman moment' last night & probably put him right in the top 2 vote-getters if not in the lead. I'd agree that nobody's separated themselves this year. It could still go one of 3-4 different ways at this point. |

If Mccoy had more moments like last night this season he would be deserving but the fact that he has been mediocre against mediocre teams means he shouldn't get it. Gerhart has been the most consistent of all the contenders and has done exceptionally well in their big games. |

Regular ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Mardy Gilyard should get more than a few votes. http://ncaafootball.fanhouse.com/2008/11/28/jason-whitlock-freaking-unleashes-on-espn-calls-them-an-enemy/ Even though I don't usually believe a lot of what Jason Whitlock says I have to agree with this. Perfect example is that the heisman changes with the week with what ESPN is trying to play up to get ratings. Hence Tebow, Pioli, Clausen, now Colt McCoy. The espn hyping the Heisman front runner is a joke, and real candidates like Mardy Gilyard, Kellen Moore, Jerry Hughes you never hear over whatever flavor or star the USC's, Texas's, Florida, Notre Dame, etc... is pedaling. Hope Gephardt gets it but the best player in the nation imho is still Jahvid Best! |

![]() ![]() | ![]() Simply looking at numbers automatically kills your credibility. The guy is the glue that gets it done for the gators. He makes the 4th down happen nearly on command. One loss last season, none this season, going for a third possible national championship in his 4 yr college career, rushing machine, team igniter - Harvin, Demps, Rainey, Cooper wouldn't be who they are w/o Tebow. |

Keep in mind, the 2009 Heisman Trophy goes to the best player in college football in 2009. Last year has nothing to do with it. I have no doubt the kid has a unique talent of making people around him better, but does he deserve the Heisman? I say no. |

Pointing out what happened in prior seasons also kills your credibility. Like the OP said, this isn't a lifetime achievement award. |
