at least part of it.   Friend's relay team imploded, I am doing the bike.  Which is odd, I usually swim in relays.

Not looking forward to an extra early wake up call to get parking, but looking forward to the day.

See you guys there. Me and my gf (rspencer) will be running the oly. Will be my 2nd oly and most likely last race of the year. This will be her first oly.

So I am thinking I am jealous, having passed up a few chances to register myself and to relay -- and then (Chris and) I get this in email ...dang, would I love to "win" this chance...

Wanna race on the same relay team as the 2007 Ironman World Champion? Well... here is your chance. Chris McCormack himself (aka "Macca" is a member of this club, and, just like any other member, would like one of his fellow clubbers to step-up and join his relay on Saturday, 9/13 for the Malibu distance olympic race.
Macca will be SWIMMING, and his buddy, Danny, is happy to either bike or run... so, if you win this slot, you may choose to do the bike or run leg.

I know, how cool is that???    Doing the relay, I've had to juggle my long ride training, I have to be there Sat anyway to pick up packet, trying to figure out how to sched it all.....  That would be pretty cool......

But I do have a Malibu complaint....   Packet pickup is Saturday but only after 1 pm.  That blows.  I have to do a long ride, so if I ride there, I have to leave late, or if not, ride up there, and then drive up there later in the day.

Yeah, and if you can't race with Macca Saturday, you can relay with Hunter Kemper on Sunday ...what fun is this!

Last two years  I  did  the packet pick up  on Sunday morning (for the sunday race) and  that saves me  2 hours +  $25 in gas + parking  .  I mean you have to be there early sunday  anyway  to get  a decent parking spot.    It was very efficient and i did not have to wait in line at all.

That's a good point, actually. We're going Saturday in any case to hang out at the beach and the expo a bit (may even go out early enough to watch the Oly), but it really is a good idea to arrive betw. 4:30 and 4:45am on Sunday to avoid having to park offsite and shuttle, so day-of packet pickup isn't unreasonable.

Problem #2 is I am on a relay and according to my team that's done it before, all three members have to check in together, although that's unclear at the moment from the website

Chris   I think you are right . Relays have to check in together.  It  Might be A LOT easier to meet up the rest of your relay team Saturday  afternoon than in the dark at 5:30am .

You will have fun on the bike just watch out for us slower folks .

I did the relay in 06 and 07.  They have one packet for the whole team and want everyone there with ID at the same time.  We did it morning of, only time we could all be sure to be there.  Not too bad.

Yeah, I'm sort of at the mercy of my team, I am a replacement and their plan was to go and check in together Saturday, so I can't really be too rabble rousing about it.  No biggie.

Hopefully will be racing on the new bike.  Not that it will make me faster... just shinier.

I'm interested in watching the race on Sunday.  I know parking will suck.  I don't mind riding my bike into Zuma.  Any suggestions on where to park down the road and ride in from?  And what time I should arrive?  I'd prefer not to get up *too* early, since I'm not even racing...

In all seriousness...make a little sign that says "Parking with permission of Pastor Andy" and throw it in your window and park at my church - Malibu United Methodist (30128 Morning View Dr, 90265).  We are slightly closer than the High School which is the designated overflow.  We are about 100 yards up from PCH and just under 3/4 mile down from expo and starting area.

We actually have people meeting at 6:45 to walk down, watch, and cheer me on.  Plus you are more than invited to come join us after as I preach in my first tri finishers medal when we are done

Anyone else get the email from XTERRA wetsuit CEO showing Matthew McC. training for the race Sunday?  Better watch out for him in the water, Chris.

Anyone racing Saturday: My wife and I are planning to be there as spectators (and stick around for packet pickup)...if you post your bib number by Friday night, we'll try to keep and eye out for you and cheer...

(And if you're racing Sunday...Liz and I will be in the Disney Tri Team racks...my blue-and-black Scott S40 with PD T2+ clip-ons is pretty easy to spot...as is my beard and ponytail...feel free to say "Hi")

I'm racing Saturday. Cheer me on! I'll be in LATC colors and riding a red specialized bike, probably in a light blue visor on the run. I plan on picking up my packet on Fri, so I'll try to remember to post my number. I entered the LATC raffle to race w Hunter on Sunday but I didn't win.

Hey, Rev Andy, can I use that sign on Saturday too and park in your church parking lot? I don't know what time i'll be done w the race, but I know if I park in Zuma I won't be allowed out until 10:30 the earliest. Just wondering...
