Yep that's right! After months of infertility visits, tests, In-vitro feritlization, tests, several thousand dollars which my insurance would not cover, tests, 45% chance of success, tests, complications, and delivery a week early, out came Rory Dawson, our son, perfectly healthy.

It was quite an ordeal. The money was the easiest thing and we wrote the checks without thinking twice. Absolutely the hardest thing about the in-vitro was the tests which would indicate failure. Not just complications or hurdles to jump, but failure. And after each test - "we'll have the results in about 2 weeks." So then we would sweat bullets for 2 weeks waiting to see if it was all for nothing. That coupled with the 45% chance of success were the hardest things to take. There were probably 7 or so such tests.

At any rate, everything miraculously fell into place and on 01-11-05 at 5:06 am, Rory was born. I was working my normal midnight shift across Tampa Bay in St. Pete when my wife called and said she felt wierd. She called again and said the doctor told her to go to the hospital, which she did. I was stuck on a scene and just happened to mention the situation to my Sgt. (have you guessed I'm a cop yet?) and he said "what the hell are you doing here! Get out of here now!" and sent me to the hospital. I really didn't think anything was going to come of it, and neither did my wife, so I was standing by at my car just in case it was a false alarm because the case I was on was really bad and important and I needed to be there if possible.

Anyway, at 4:20 my wife's mother called and said that her doctor was on the way from his home and at 5:00 they were inducing pregnancy whether I was there or not. I made it to the hospital in Tampa at 4:49. Now, anyone who knows the area knows how fast I must have been driving. I remember thinking that there was something wrong with my truck because it kept "banging" and slowing down. After it did this three times, I realized that it was the governor cutting power due to speed (don't ask - 3-digits). When I got there it was pre-arranged that I would pull in where the ambulances park and run into the ER, where two nurses were waiting with my gown and hat and booties. I ran into the ER and my wife was crying because she did not think I was going to make it. We joked a little and they began an emergency C-section. In ten minutes I heard the suction and some tiny coughing and there he was. Short story is that we are home and Rory's a week old today. I haven't had time to do much, but did manage a 4 miler and later a 7.5 miler which felt really good and let off some tension. Anyway, things are going perfectly and I couldn't be happier. I don't mind the training I've missed, but am happy to start back again. Just thought I would let ya'll know where I've been ( as if you missed me, I'm kinda new to BT).

Oh, if anyone has any questions about in-vitro or anything else, I don't mind.

OHHHH. He's beautiful. Congratulations.

And right now, sleep is more important than working out. For all three of you! Seriously. If you don't do it, in two weeks you'll be posting about how exhausted you are. Ask me how I know
