Subject: coming back from injury (piraformis)I know there's whole forum dedicated to health and injuries, but I'd like to get an opinion from the general population.
I've been dealing with a nagging piraformis injury for 6 months, or more. The sports doc actually recommended some training, albeit decreased, during rehab. My rehab is generally lots of stretching and weekly visits to a physical therapist. Yes, it has improved. But, it's not even close to being fixed. Some days it feels great, almost likes it's gone, but then other days it feels worse than when it started. My only training during that time has been swimming and biking- absolutely no running. Sometimes I feel like the biking actually helps by stretching it out, but I wonder sometime if I should just stop training altogether, and stretch my azz off. I will say this, the biking at times does seem to help ( tho who really knows ) , but, it definitely hurts if I overdo it (30-35 miles instead of 20-24 ).
I really don't know where to turn. Actually, I do. I'm going to visit a few more doctors, and get an MRI which I have not done yet. But, my question to my fellow exercise enthusiasts is: do you wait until you're completely rehabilitated before you resume training, or do you restart when you're feeling a little better, and mildly train thru it? I know it's subjective, and it can depend on the injury, and maybe I'm just looking for sympathy or to rant, but I'm also curious.
Thanks
