A Husker stuck in VA
Subject: Shirt Donation?
If you don't know already I am in the Navy stationed in Newport RI. Two times every year the Surface Navy Association puts on a "5K by the Bay" race and gives out t-shirts. The last couple races they have had an abundance of extras left over.
Recently I have seen a lot of articles about people collecting shoes and finishers medals to donate for one cause or another. I have about 2-300 t-shirts that I can give away (long and shot sleeve) and was wondering if anyone knew of a group, other than the salvation army, that takes shirts to give away?
All suggestions appreciated.

Thanks,
Scott

When I was in TN, our diocese's sister diocese was Haiti. We regularly gave a LOT of shirts (all sorts of clothing) to them - apparently there were a lot of little Haitian children running around with Vols shirts. You could check out Episcopal Relief & Development to see if they still do similar - they help all around the world (including the US) in times of disaster. http://www.er-d.org/

Or send them to the local chaplain for soldiers in the sandbox or rockpile.

With all those surplus shirts due to low turn-out, it sounds like the blackshoes need to get a-running...

SWOnuts and coffee, anyone?
