Subject: RE: Dec. Challenge 12-6-08Don't ever break you're collarbones. That's my advice for the day I saw my surgeon again yesterday and I am still technically in pieces!! Now she wants to do a CT scan to see if there is really a soft tissue bridge over the break site or not to decide if she wants to operate. So ANOTHER few weeks of waiting. OMG, its been 4 months! I want to be able to swim again!!!
I don't think she's used to working with athletes and I don't think she really understands what I mean when I say "I road race" because I'm not a skinny stick of a person. So I am hunting around for another opinion. But, needless to say, I rode by bike on the club ride today, but cut it short to write a paper. But I went to the velodrome last night and saw a guy who was riding right behind me when I went down and FINALLY got the details of what happened. Aparently the guy in front of me was on a borrowed bike and riding above his ability. He was trying to go faster to keep our pace and started rocking his upperbody at 50kph- so of course he lost control, twisted his wheel and went down. I hit him square in the chest HARD enough that I did a front flip over the bars landing on my shoulder and side of my back. The other guy's front fork split in 3 pieces and flew 20 feet. Fortunatly I slid one way and guy I hit slid the other way allowing the other 10 guys in the paceline to stay upright. Apparently, it was spectacular, but I'm glad I don't remember any of my failed negotiation with gravity.
