Subject: Camelback big bite valve on Aerodrink straw for the win
I live where the road is nasty bumpy they cut expansions gaps that are up to 5 inches wide all the way across the road in some places, less so in others.  So I got an aero type bottle (podium = no yellow shower sponge, yay) and the straw would either jack me in the mouth on a bump or pull out of my mouth dumping water onto my delicate speedometer.  So to fix this I put the camelback big bite valve  ($5) on it and problem solved.  Nice soft rubber to just bite and suck on and it is flexible enough that the bumps don't affect your drinking pleasure.  It also prevents splashing out the straw if you were to move your mouth off it suddenly.  Anyway thought I would share, best $5 fix I have found recently.

Hey, that's a great idea.  The main reason I don't use my aerobottle much is the sharp straw.  Thanks for sharing!

There are different size bite valves?  Awhile back I attempted to do what you succeeded in doing but couldn't get the valve over the straw. I have never used a camelback so was unaware that there might be different sizes.

I believe the Camelback bite valve only comes in one size... it's really tough to get it on there, but it's do-able.  Sometimes it helps to stretch it out just a bit with your fingers before getting it on there.   Just keep trying... you'll eventually get it!

If you moisten the straw and bite valve you should be able to get it over the top.  If for some reason your straw hose is too small for the mouth piece there is an  adaptor that one end goes inside the straw and the bite vavle goes on the outside.  But I think for most aerobottle straws the tubing is the larger size and the adaptor wont fit inside it tightly.  Anyway, for me this makes all the difference between shelfing the the aero type bottle or using always.  Well worth the effort to try t get that puppy on there.

But ya the bite valves are one size, you want te Camelback Big Bite Valve, not the one that goes on the end of a waterbottle that comes with 2 straws, that one wont work.

The NeverReach sytem comes with a bite valve.  It is rather nice.

I wonder if their $5 bite valve would fit better than a Camelbak one?
