Subject: Vincentown Tri or Lake Lenape Tri?

I would like to do a triathlon this weekend, but I'm having a hard time deciding between Vincentown and Lake Lenape.

Has anyone done either of these before, and if so, what were your opinions on these races? Are they well organized? Fun?  I've read race reports and looked at photos, and I still can't decide! (For some reason, choosing which races to do is always harder than doing the actual race for me!Tongue out)

I tried calling the number listed on Compuscore for the Lake Lenape sprint tri and it said it was disconnected or no longer in-service. I don't know how else to sign-up for the race other than just showing up in Mays Landing the morning of the race.

I did Vincentown last season and it's an ok race. the lake/pond that the swim takes place in was really pretty scummy - so you might want to bring a wetsuit. The bike course is fast too. DQ organizes some pretty good races - can't go wrong with their races.

After doing Vincentown last season I was leaning towards doing Lake Lenape - but only if I knew:

1.) what is the cost to register.

and

2.) what are my options for registering?

I can't find any Lake Lenape info except for the race reports.

You can register for the Lake Lenape Tri on Active.com.  Online registration is open until 8am July 9th, and it's $70Smile

I've done Lake Lenape twice and its a great race.  Nice and clean sandy bottom lake with a big beach, rolling out and back bike, and a flat, windy run thru a residential neighborhood.  Good for spectators and the post-race food is good.  Transition is a little rocky, but other than that, its a great sprint.  I'd recommend it though I've never done Vincentown, but if the post above says the lake is gross, definitely go with LL.

Vincentown swim = Kings Grant swim

Geese poop and who knows what else on the bottom. I'm always scared i'm gonna step on a lost fishing hook in one of these ponds/lakes.
