OK, here is some slight weirdness.
I rode in my 3rd sprint tri on Sunday, and it was great.
After the race, I noticed that the tire had actually come off my front rim. I have no idea if or how far I rode that way, but it freaked me out.
So then, I am walking my bike and I hear a tinkinng sound. Not sure what it is.
I check the rear derailleur, nope, check the spokes, nope, and then realize, there is something INSIDE the wheel. Not sure what it is.
Go out for my 10 mile ride, all is good. No problems....
So now I have to see, what is really there.
I'll get back to you after I stretch and shower.

I had something similar in my road bike... when I took it in for its tuneup I mentioned it and they said it was a spoke nipple that dropped off inside the wheel... when I picked it up it was gone, not sure if they got it out (they said they can't always) or they swapped me out for a new wheel, but it was gone.

Not sure about the tire coming off the rim situation but I have a pair of old Mavic CXP 14s that make clickity-click noises sometimes. There is a little weld tack that falls loose and rattles around inside the rim from time to time. It is harmless though slightly annoying. You might be hearing the same thing.

I was going to mention that same thing about Mavics - good call!  Certain Mavic rim lines have long been infamous for this issue.  Drove me absolutely nuts trying to troubleshoot the noise years ago, and then discovered it's rather common with the Mavic rim I had at the time.  As mentioned, it's annoying but completely harmless.

Cheers, Chris

So you're telling me my nipples may be falling off?
I thought that is what I used body glide for!
Seriously, I think you are right. I took off the tube and tire and can't stop the noise. It seems to be inside the hollow part of the rim.

I was worried it was something to make me flat out, but now at least I feel safe from that.
Thanks everyone!

Check your spokes VERY well.  I had the same thing and also gave the spokes a quick check.  All seemed fine.  A couple rides later- snap- the spoke really broke.  Better to have that happend in the garage than 35 miles from home
