Subject: Tri wetsuits
Has anyone ever heard of wetsuits?  I saw them on Ebay and am not sure if they are a decent brand.  Seemed pretty cheap.

Also wondering about the transition area after a swim into the bike stage when you are wearing a wetsuit.  Do you leave it on or take it off?  Do you wear something underneath it?

I'm doing my first tri at the PBR on Oct. 11th and would like to use a wetsuit.  Probably, mostly to keep me from drowning...lol!

Thanks,
Ken

If it's your first tri you may want to just rent a wetsuit first (unless you already know you want to do lots more), and make sure you know if the race will be wetsuit legal. If the water is above 78 degrees you may not be able to wear one I think.

You will definitely want to take your wetsuit off in transition, you would probably die of heat exhaustion if you biked with it on. =) I had my first tri on Sunday and I wore bike shorts undernear, most people will recommend tri shorts since they dry fast and have a smaller amount of padding so you are comfortable during the run.

Good luck on your first tri!

If you go to Triple Sports in Scottsdale they have tons of different wet suits for you to try on and rent. They'll even apply the rental fee to an eventual purchase if you decide to buy. They have always been really nice to work with.

Same goes for Tribe. Tribe also has a endless pool that you can try it in.

Thanks for the advice.

So do you wear bike pants under the suit?

Any of you wear an Ipod during the bike and run?  Not sure if that is common or not.

I wear trisuit under. And most races don't allow iPods.
