Greetings! I retired last year following a 26 year hitch with the military, mostly with Speical Forces. During those years, bless the VA, I somehow gained 90% disability.. So, I took a break from running for a while, underwent 9 major surgeries in less than a year, and I'm back.  I decided to get into cycling around August of last year on the way back from Willmington so I bought my bike. I've since decided that I would like to complete, notice I did NOT say compete, in an Ironman event.

I'm very happily married and have a wonderful 12 year old daughter who is undertakikng her first Tri in August in Raliegh! I'm very proud of her. Both of us are members of USAT.

I'm here because I'm new and although I've done a duathlon last year, I will complete my first Tri in Oct in Pinehurst, NC. That's about it for now. Thanks.

Welcome and congrats!  Did you end up staying in SC after the military?  Nice area up there!

I was in the same boat, although not retired.  I did 6 years, got out on the VA dime and decided cycling was the way to get back into shape after the surgery.

Again, congrats and welcome!

Thank you and my apologies for my fingers striking the keys incorrectly. Yes Sir, Fayetteville. I appreciate the welcomes. I’m looking forward to October and going to Pinehurst. However, I’m more excited to be heading to Raleigh on August 28th for my daughter’s first Triathlon!!! She hasn’t stopped talking about it yet, even after I gave her a new iPod touch!!!

The surgeries went ok. They found some things they could fix and some things that they couldn't. I figure that's comes with being a lifer in the military. At least they are going to pay me for it, family is taken care of, and we don't need anything. Life is good.

Thank you again for the warm welcome!
