Hey Folks,

I am new to the board and thought I would say hi! I just started the "Beginner to Olympic" 20 week schedule with a friend of mine. We have a goal race here in the city for June 28th, 2006. I used to be a competitive lifeguard (when I was a little younger, and slightly more attractive in a swimsuit) so the events are not completely new to me... I made it through the first three workouts and I am not in too much discomfort yet!

Nervous and excited to say the least. Luckily, I have the least judgemental training partner in the world... my "Irondog" Karma (she is definitely a little faster than me since she operates in 4 leg drive).

On that note, I will be posting loads of newbie questions I am sure... so bear with me!

I look forward to "chatting" with you all!

Cheers,
Julie and "Irondog" Karma!

ps. i am interested in hearing from some "Athena" class women out there. No matter how much training I do (and hopefully some weight loss)... I doubt I will be losing the requisite 50 lbs it would take me to be in the regular weight class!

Welcome to the board!  Ask away on any questions...and use the training logs, they are great!

It's completely up to you whether or not you race Athena. Just because you meet the weight specifications doesn't mean you have to compete as one. It's entirely up to you! Oh, and don't let the Athena label fool you- most Athena's can kick my butt!

 Enjoy your training!

Welcome to BT! Congrats on starting the program - stick with it and you'll be amazed at what you can do. Log your progress - it helps to know people are keeping an eye on you.

I also love training with my dog! She's such a great partner, even though she's also faster with her 4-leg drive. Have fun!

Thanks for the encouragement! I did not clue in to the fact that people can read the training logs... I think it is great! Thanks for pointing that out watergirl!!

I have survived the first week of the 20 week schedule... just have to finish my 80 minute bike tonight... should be no problem.

I can't believe how excited I already am... I hope this motivation lasts.

Thanks to everyone for the welcome!
