Bank of America Gasparilla 5K - Run

View Member's Race Log View other race reports
Tampa, Florida
United States
70F / 21C
Sunny
Total Time = 24m 39s
Overall Rank = 572/6421
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 34/330
Pre-race routine:

Had a little bit of Gatorade, but that about it. Didn't really PREPARE for this as it was just a warmup run for the marathon.
Event warmup:

Walked to the start line.
Run
  • 24m 39s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 56s  min/mile
Comments:

Too many people.
What would you do differently?:

Not run it. Just too crowded. If I need a warmup run next year, I'll run on my own.
Post race
Warm down:

Went to Pane Rustica for flatbread.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

6400 other people. Plus most of them were walkers and NOT staying to the right like they're supposed to. GRRR...

Event comments:

Since the 15K was just before it, there were loads of post-race aid stations...food, drink, medical, you name it. Probably the best part of the race itself...I got some really good honey wheat bread from the Great Harvest station.
