I looks like it must be 7-8 feet deep in the lanes and even deeper at the starting end. Deeper pools are faster. Why? I do believe it is something to do with water interacting with edges/bottoms...just like the outer lanes are not as fast as the inner lanes because they are closer to the walls. Swimmers push water out of the way...when water hits something it heads back the OTHER way and causes interference...so the farther the water is from a surface the better. Or something like that. |
