Race Nexus- Tying it all together

We're aware of this. Prior to the Nexus, it was possible, and very common, for a number of people to enter reports for the same race, yet not have them linked. This was one of the things  that led to the creation of the Nexus. That and Ron's apparent lack of need for sleep.

When the Nexus was created,  he made a huge effort to tie as many previous race reports together as possible. There were literally weeks spent at the keyboard entering and examing race data and matching things up.

Unfortunately, due to the sheer number of reports, literally thousands of them,  getting them all was just impossible. It would require manually viewing every single report and matching it up with other reports and current races. So for anything prior to April of this year may or may not be linked in the Nexus.

This shouldn't be an issue with races and reports entered after April.

It's all better Bear.  I found the old link and merged the two. 

Last month I had programmer dude enhance the admin part of the Nexus to eliminate duplicates year after year and other stuff so as much info stayed with the live link as possible.  He also made a 'dup checker'...low and behold, this race was singled out in yellow.

Although I lost the current race discussion association in merging, a little bug, I will re-link it.

Thanks, Ron, but I really meant it as a general question, rather than specific to that one race. Most of my remaining scheduled races don't have links to 2005 reports, some of 'em i know have 2004 reports out there: CajunMan, Games of Acadiana, Meat Pie, T-Gator. Do you just want to fix these on an "as reported" basis?

Some 2005 and all 2004 and prior will have to be done as an 'as reported' basis-we have so many current races, it would have taken too much work to go back. We do do a quick-check for duplicate old races though when a new 2006/2007 gets submitted.  And the duplicate checker only works so well if everyone uses the same first word or two in the title. 

So when you come across old reports with old links, probably from the http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/training/races-search.asp page or the RR forum search, just give me the URL to the old report, preferably to the race link and then the current live one and I will merge them.
