Seen it?  Like it?

I saw it over the weekend.  It was done in an interesting manner.  There was a curious juxtaposition of modern hip hop/music with the period cinematography along with some other visual effects.  Good story.  Good enough to make me want to read the book now.

I wold probably give it 7 out of 10?

I want to go see it with my daughter but she said "I'm not sure if I'm ready to jump on this Gatsby wagon".  LOL.  Not sure what that means. But she just got done reading the book a couple weeks ago and doesn't want the movie to ruin the book.  I guess it's too soon.

But it visually looks interesting.  Maybe I'll go alone.

There are some things that even though make it a good movie, just wouldn't happen in regular life.

I mean, just pick up the phone and TALK TO THE GIRL instead of everything that happens.  But then you don't have a movie.

Just like all the romantic comedies where there is some ridiculous comical misunderstanding that could easily be solved by a quick convo.  "No, that girl is my sister"  Done.  Instead, it's thinking he's cheating for days and days and comedy ensues.

I'm really interested in seeing it and a little worried by the bad reviews I've read. I'm glad to hear you liked it.

Well, I tend to lean towards the positives.  I just love movies and it would have to be exceptionally bad for me not to like it.

For example, I thought going to see Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter would be fun, as well as Looper.  I'm glad I waited for HBO because both were pretty bad, IMO.  Looper better than ALVH, but not much.

But I would say Gatsby is worth paying to see.

The trailer of future movies before Gatsby has me excited about this year.  Looks like some good stuff coming out.

Not to derail your topic but speaking of movies, one of my best friends wrote, directed and acted in a film that came out recently called, Night of the Templar.  David Carradine is in it so I'm guessing it may have been his last movie before he died.  He also has Norman Reedus and a couple other fairly well known actors.

I just bought a copy and I've read good and bad reviews.  I'm nervous to watch it because he is such a great, unselfish person.  I really want it to be a success for him.
