Total Time = 3h 05m 12s
Overall Rank = DFL/
Age Group = women
Age Group Rank = 8/8
Pre-race routine:

Office annual golf tournament on the Friday morning (which I won) and far too much food and beer (non alcoholic) in the evening.
, had breakfast even though I was still full from last night. Back on site at 9am

Did this in 2h50 something last year. I knew I would be nowhere near a result like that this year.
Goal was to beat 2021, my first oly (3:06:15)
Stretch goal: under 3 hours
But main goal was to finish and enjoy it.
Event warmup:

Proper warm up like last time, jog, stretch, swim
Swim
  • 35m
  • 1583 meters
  • 02m 13s / 100 meters
Comments:

A nice swim, took my time (because I still only have one speed anyway) and enjoyed looking at the nice blue sky everytime I took a breath. Found several feet to draft behind.

A little surprised at the time, I thought I was faster due to drafting but I zig-zagged for 85m so I guess that's why...

Transition 1
  • 01m 18s
Comments:

A nice and smooth T1 the way I like them, perfectly executed

Bike
  • 1h 26m 50s
  • 40.5 kms
  • 27.98 km/hr
Comments:

Tried to enjoy the ride too, which I did. I have more than one speed at this disciplin, contrary to the swim but I chose not to push, wanted to do “well” (relatively well) on the run.

Still, better than my goal time, can’t ask for more
Transition 2
  • 01m 15s
Comments:

Nothing to report, a good T2
Run
  • 1h 00m 48s
  • 10 kms
  • 06m 05s  min/km
Comments:

Been struggling with the run all season so goal was under one hour and enjoy.

I did enjoy it, but fell short on time. Not by much and an improvement over 2021 so I’ll take that as a win
Post race
Warm down:

A quick massage (calves) which felt great. Achilles is almost good now.

Was really really tired after, headache, nausea, like never before. Had a nap in the afternoon and to bed early. Felt great the next day .

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Same answer as all season, slightly overweight, injury issues. This season hasn’t gone well. Roll on 2025!

Event comments:

Great little race. Still struggling to get many participants but it looks like they’ve decided to keep going.

1.) I'm so jealous you have a race this close to your house!!

2.) Great job!

The headache/nausea thing happens to me some after shorter races with harder efforts. It might also happen after longer races of more moderate efforts, but I think then everything else hurting just blunts it. I think it is dehydration and/or electrolyte imbalances. Glad you felt better the next day, though!

Congratulations on the PB to finish off your season in style.

Also jealous that you live close enough to walk to and from your triathlon. Sure must make the logistics easy

Enjoy the off season

I have a race about 10 minutes away, but walking that's awesome.

RE:  the race...nicely done on the transitions as usual; it's tough to gauge pace in the water and especially with such a small race, love the bike PB, and a great run based on how you were doing this year

Enjoy hockey season!

Thanks

No PBs here.

The bike was better than my goal time, which was based on the trial runs (and bike and swim) I did on the course the week before, that's it, much slower than last year, and slower than 21 too

Yeah, it's great to have a race on my doorstep
