Cool (but disturbing) video - runner snaps leg and keeps going

There's a link to the written story in Dave699's blog.  I don't think I want to see the video!  She was suffering with some pain in that leg a couple of weeks prior to the race so took it easy during practices.  She broke the tibia three times, because she went down once then got back up, then finally the fibula went, with audible load enough that others heard it.  She decided she didn't want to be that close and not finish the race!

I hope that was not the case.  With the number of athletes coming in at the time, officals may not have seen her or been able to get to her quickly as a result of the the numbers crossing the finish line.  It's would be like swimming up stream.  Also, race officals and medical personnel can not touch an athlete until the athlete asks, is disqualified, passes out or crosses the finish line.  The athlete could file a protest to the offical results due to your interference as a result of your intended concern.
