I think I may need new running sneakers.  Here is my situation.  I have two pairs of sneakers.  I realized that I was getting a achilles pain when running in my new pair.  I ordered some insteps which seamed to help.  But reciently I started getting the pain again.  I found that my sneaker were partially responsible.  I dont experience the same pain with my second pair, BUT I get terrible blisters from them.  I KNOW I should have gone to a special running store to get tested for a proper pair.  But now I have two fairly new pairs with about 200 invested that dont work for me... I dont really have another 100 for a new pair right now.  No real question I guess, just venting.  What would you guys do?  Or better yet, anything I can buy do to prevent blisters.  I getting sick of popping the skin to let the fluid out!!!

If it were me, I wouldn't continue to run in shoes that caused me pain or blisters.  I'd take the loss, go to a running specialty store with a good return policy.  One that would allow me to take them back after running in them for a bit if they didn't work out.  To me, it's not worth running through pain caused by shoes.

How many times have you run in the new shoes?  Are your socks too big and bunching up anywhere?

X2

Getting injured because of the wrong shoes is more frustrating than wasting $200.  I try to chalk up these little things as  "learning experiences".  If it make you feel better, we all do this at some point. Shoes, watches, bikes, wetsuits - people buy the wrong stuff all the time.

You could try using Bodyglide or vaseline on the affected areas. Or you could make these shoes into walking shoes or yardwork shoes and go get a proper pair from a running shoe store. Trying to run in ill fitting shoes is setting yourself up for failure.

x2.  I just bought new shoes on Tuesday.  I wore them twice (on the treadmill) and HATED them.   I returned them today and picked out a new pair.  Hopefully these will work for me but, if not, back they go again.  A good return policy is worth any extra the shoes might cost over a chain or online IMO.

I gotta agree with everyone else here...unless they are in relatively new condition and you can return at least one of the pairs...I'd chalk it up to a learning experience. I wouldn't continue to wear a pair that caused blisters or pain of any kind. Believe me...I am THE QUEEN of returning running shoes that don't work for me. I've got it down to a science. It literally takes me about 2 months of solid testing to find a shoe that I'll keep. I only shop at specialty running shoe stores and I make sure that I can return the shoes after I have sufficiently tested them on a treadmill. Most times I can tell within the first 5 or 10 minutes of running in a shoe, whether or not it's going back to the store. Another good reason to go with a running shoe store is to have your gait analyzed to make sure you get the right kind of shoe for your specific foot mechanics (stability, motion-control, or neutral cushioned).

How fun, I was JUST getting ready to make a post on this topic, but I found this one on the front page.  So, I figured I'd post here instead of making a new thread.

Here is my story.  I got new running shoes last week.  Got them from a specialty running store, was fitted, etc, etc.  I ran twice in them for only 1.5m each time last week.  No problems.

Today I ran 3m in them, and around mile 2, my two toes next to my big toe started feeling a little hot (only on my left foot).  Sure enough, when I got back , those two toes started getting blisters on the tips of the toes (not the bottom).  (Side note:  my toe next to my big toe is the longest one on my foot.)

I have a few questions here:

 1)  How should I treat this injury?  How long should I wait to run again?

 2)  Should I be worried about my new shoes, or is this part of the "breaking in" process?  Will my toes eventually "toughen up" and/or will my shoes conform more to my shape over time?

 3)  In the future, should I wear a thicker sock maybe to prevent this?

Thanks for your help.
