Nope, it might be a bit ugly, but using it outside is better than trashing your pretty ti skewer in the trainer!

Yes, go to a bike shop and get a skewer- probably costs about $10 or so. 

It's a very good thing to have an extra skewer anyway and bring it to races with you- the second time I did Eagleman, I must have left the washer (is that the correct term?) of my skewer back at the hotel 45 minutes away the day I had to check my bike in (when I put it in my car, so it could have rolled anywhere- I never did find it).  The official bike shop of the race didn't have that part.  Thankfully, Dave from Elite Bicycles helped me out and gave me that part for free, even though I don't own one of his bikes.  I now always bring my trainer skewer to races with me...
