Hello! I'm doing my first tri on Sunday. The swim is a pool swim. I was wondering what the women out there say for clothing. Do you use bike shorts, or ride in your running shorts. I also have to put on knee braces between the bike and run- i'm not counting on a good transition time. I just don't want to be sliding out of my seat on the bike. It's supposed to be a bit chilly too- around 60-65. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.

Tri shorts have been one of my better investments. Orca make a tri specific short. They're like bike shorts but with less padding, so its much easier to run. On top I wear a fast drying/tight singlet top and swim in the shorts and singlet under my wetsuit, n/a in your case!

Have a search of the boards, there's been much discussion about this.

Good luck for Sunday, be sure to post a race report!

It really depends on the distance of your race.  For a sprint tri I would just wear my swimsuit or trisuit for the entire race and only throw on a pair of running shorts if I thought my legs might chafe and a jersey if it were too cool out.   Wear what you train in as a general rule of thumb.

Best of Luck Sunday!!

My first tri is in June, and like you, it is a pool swim.  I am going to swim in my swimsuit, then put on my tri shorts and a singlet or jersey in T1, and since I don't  have clipless pedals, throw on socks and shoes for the bike.  That way, all I have to do for the run is jump off my bike and go!

Ahhh...the weekly what to wear thread. I just did an Oly last weekend and wore a tri race top and tri shorts- I did all 3 events in them, and it saved me a lot of time! The top was by Zoot, and the bottoms were Louis Garneau (LOVE these shorts). Let me just warn you if you wear a swimsuit for the swim, and then in T1 you put on tri shorts- it's really hard to put clothes on when you are wet! I did this last year and it was a struggle- definitely made my tranisition time long- but if you aren't worried about that, then go for it. But, a tri top and bottoms are the best thing. I recommend trisports.com - they have great customer service. Good luck!

I've done one tri with an ocean swim- so i wore a wetsuit and tri shorts (zoot) and a running bra and threw on a shirt because i have c cups and there is no way i was comfortable getting ogled for the duration of the run.
i just ordered a sugoi tri top- but there's no bra built in. do you think i'd be creating too much drag with a running bra, the tri top, tri shorts and wetsuit in the swim? its very tempting for logisical purposes.
