Can anyone recommend a place in the east valley to be properly fitted for a pair of running shoes.

Performance Footwear is the gold standard.

Rural and University.

Remember: Going cheap on shoes costs you in the "long run" on knees.

Partly agree... a lot of it has to do with running form.

Ok, it has to do with a lot of things:

Weight
Fitness
Form
Surface

But, if you buy poorly suited shoes I you're still going to be worse off.

Honestly, I think "form" may be the least important, but then again I'm
not a Pose/Chi person either. (Don't know if you are or not, just know
I'm not).

IMO.

Thanks to everyone for the quick response.  I ended up at Sole Sports this morning and found to have a neutral running style.  Although I do not run heal to toe, I am more of a forefront runner toe out.  I ended up trying on 6 different brands and ended up with the Nike Air Zoom Vomero+ 3 Men's Running Shoe.  This surprised me as I would not normally buy Nike as I have been an ASICS guy forever.  The Nike's just really felt right and the best for my trial run and walk.  I ran tonight and did not have one twinge of shin splints.  I did however feel it more in my calf's but I can live with it.  Once again thanks.  I also ended up with a pair of yanks and seem to work well also.

Regards,
TheDave.
