Nothing makes a Monday worse than goign to see the trainer and beign informed that you ahve to take the entire week off, b/c of little IT band issue! Total bummer, but damn does my knee ever hurt. What to do with all the spare time I will have this week??

Tough break guy. Let's see I envision lots of ice, stretching, naps, and cross friction massage along the IT band. Hurt's like hell....but loosens up the tissue. Enjoy you rest!

I'm in the same boat. The ITB is such an annoying injury bc it seems so WIMPY. No one has any idea how much it hurts and how a victim can be perfectly fine for 15 minutes and then want to throw up from pain. I seem fine, but then going down the stairs does me in. Or when the dog jumps on my leg when we are on the couch, and I scream bloody murder... My spouse thinks its in my head bc there is no swelling or obvious damage..

Even worse, though? When your first race is in 6 days!!!!! I am SO PISSED!

Better than having to take 6 weeks off for a stress fx.  Stretch, and swim...cross train, weight train, core strengthening.

After a 5 K race on Saturday and doing a 21 mile bike ride yesterday. Started to come down with a sore throat last nite. Today I skipped my swim in the pool and just sucked on throat logenzes and drank juice.

Maybe it's a good thing, give my heel and hip a day of rest.

I had to miss a race this weekend because of my ITBS. I volunteered instead! It was fun and I learned a lot but I don't know if it was more or less depressing than just staying home. Injuries are really demotivating for me. This is my second one in the last few months. The first one turned out to be minor and only set me back a couple of days. This one is more long term. I'm trying to cross train but I find I have less motivation for any of it these days. If I keep going like this, I won't get to my 1/2 IM in September, so I've got to keep pushing where I can. It actually helps me to spend time on these boards giving and getting motivation and tips where I can. I guess dealing with the bummer of injury is yet another challenge on the road to success here. I know everyone has to deal with it. I just wish it weren't me.
