Subject: Chamois cream
Just curious if anybody has tried one of the shea butter-based chamois creams...such as Hammer's Seat Saver or Nubutte? I came across a discussion on a cycling forum, and these 2 products were mentioned as being longer-lasting than typical chamois cream. I recently got a jar of Assos, and I have to say, that I'm not all that impressed with it. It has a thinner consistency than I thought it would and it disappeared fairly quick. Apparently, from what I understand...Assos recently changed their formula...so I guess I got a jar of the "new" stuff, which from what I keep hearing is not as good as the old formula. The old stuff was a beige-colored cream, and the new stuff is a light green colored cream (which is what I have). Anyway...just wondering if any folks have tried these shea butter chamois creams?

That's kind of interesting... I have both the new formula and the old formula of Assos and I think that it's actually improved... you shouldn't need a thick layer of it anyway... just a thin protective layer. Works perfect for me and I wouldn't go back to any other product... I've tried Hammer and didn't really like it for longer distances, neither did ButtR or the Nashbar stuff.

I find pain old BagBalm works really well. Comes in a square green tin, you can find it at Wal-Green's and it's cheap for the number of uses per tin.

X2. Three-quarters of the $8.50 tin has lasted me over a year.

Also find that Boudreaux's Butt Paste and good ol' Body Glide do the job.

I've scoured every Walgreen's within a 10-mile vicinity of me, and no Bag Balm to be had. Frown

Bag balm can also be found at CVS if you have one. It is by the hand lotions.
